Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga to Deliver Keynote Address at the 2026 Whistleblowers Awards

Johannesburg, South Africa. Monday, 23 March 2026 — Public Interest SA is honoured to announce that former Acting Deputy Chief Justice, Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, will deliver the keynote address at the 2026 Whistleblowers Awards, scheduled to take place on 26 October 2026.

Justice Madlanga is widely regarded as one of South Africa’s most principled and incisive jurists, having played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s constitutional jurisprudence. His unwavering commitment to the rule of law, accountability, and ethical governance aligns closely with the values underpinning the Whistleblowers Awards.

The Whistleblowers Awards, hosted annually by Public Interest SA, recognise and celebrate individuals who have demonstrated exceptional courage in exposing wrongdoing, often at great personal risk. The event serves as a platform to elevate the importance of whistleblowing as a cornerstone of democratic accountability and ethical leadership.

Justice Madlanga’s keynote address is expected to reflect on the moral, legal, and societal imperatives of whistleblowing in South Africa, at a time when strengthening institutional integrity remains a national priority.

Tebogo Khaas, Chairperson of Public Interest SA, welcomed Justice Madlanga’s acceptance, noting that his presence underscores the significance of the Awards and the broader movement to protect and empower whistleblowers.
