Governance & Ethics Advisory
Consulting
Through research, we address pressing issues related to governance and ethics, including the challenges faced by corporate victims of state capture corruption, the impact of corruption on public trust, and the role of whistleblowing in fostering accountability. By disseminating findings and recommendations, we not only contribute to the academic discourse but also support practical applications that drive positive change within organisations and communities. Ultimately, our Governance & Ethics Advisory offering serves as a vital intervention for business leaders, and government, equipping them with the insights and tools needed to navigate the complexities of governance and ethics in today's dynamic landscape.
Project Areboleleng
Ethical Citizenship
Our deliberative platforms provide safe space for public discourse and engagement..
Areboleng (a re boleleng) derives from the Setswana / Sepedi phrase which loosely means “let us chat”, “let’s talk”, “let’s debate”, or let’s engage”. This is our flagship program that seeks to encourage and create opportunities for enduring public dialogue and engagement through active civic participation in democratic processes.

Our quarterly Breaklogues and the inaugural annual Public Interest Lecture in 2025 reflect our unwavering commitment to fostering dialogue as a vital tool for addressing national challenges. Through these platforms, we aim to engage diverse perspectives, promote constructive discourse, and drive collaborative efforts toward finding sustainable solutions to pressing societal issues.

Barometer Project
Service Delivery
The Barometer Project is an innovative initiative designed to measure the effectiveness and readiness of e-Government systems in South Africa.
Spearheaded by Public Interest SA, the project aims to evaluate the country's digital governance infrastructure, identify gaps in service delivery, and highlight opportunities for improvement.
Drawing inspiration from global frameworks like the UN Global e-Government Readiness Report, the Barometer is tailored to reflect South Africa's unique context, including challenges such as interagency collaboration and digital equity. Ultimately, the project seeks to foster transparency, accountability, and improved public service delivery through enhanced e-Government practices.
Whistleblowing is central to our mission of promoting ethical governance and fostering a culture where truth-telling is valued and protected. Through our flagship anti-corruption initiative, the Whistleblowers Awards & Summit, we recognise and celebrate the courage of those who speak out against injustice. This initiative provides a platform to raise awareness, advocate for stronger protections, and engage stakeholders on the critical role whistleblowers play in upholding democracy and public accountability.
