Governance & Ethics Advisory

Consulting

Through rigorous research, we tackle pressing issues at the intersection of governance, ethics, and accountability. Our work explores the challenges faced by corporate victims of state capture and systemic corruption, the far-reaching consequences of corruption on public trust and democratic institutions, and the critical role of whistleblowing in promoting transparency and integrity.

By generating and disseminating evidence-based insights, findings, and recommendations, we contribute meaningfully to both academic and public discourse. At the same time, we focus on practical applications — equipping organisations, policymakers, and communities with the tools and knowledge needed to strengthen ethical cultures, enhance accountability mechanisms, and drive sustainable, positive change.

Ethical Citizenship

Our deliberative platforms provide safe space for public discourse and engagement..

Areboleng (a re boleleng) derives from the Setswana / Sepedi phrase which loosely means “let us chat”, “let’s talk”, “let’s debate”, or let’s engage”. This is our flagship program that seeks to encourage and create opportunities for enduring public dialogue and engagement through active civic participation in democratic processes.

Our quarterly Breaklogues and the inaugural annual Public Interest Lecture in 2025 reflect our unwavering commitment to fostering dialogue as a vital tool for addressing national challenges. Through these platforms, we aim to engage diverse perspectives, promote constructive discourse, and drive collaborative efforts toward finding sustainable solutions to pressing societal issues.

Barometer Project

Service Delivery

The Barometer Project is an innovative initiative designed to measure the effectiveness and readiness of e-Government systems in South Africa.

Spearheaded by Public Interest SA, the project aims to evaluate the country's digital governance infrastructure, identify gaps in service delivery, and highlight opportunities for improvement.

Drawing inspiration from global frameworks like the UN Global e-Government Readiness Report, the Barometer is tailored to reflect South Africa's unique context, including challenges such as interagency collaboration and digital equity. Ultimately, the project seeks to foster transparency, accountability, and improved public service delivery through enhanced e-Government practices.

Let's make our democracy work!
