Acting Minister of Police, Prof. Firoz Cachalia, to Deliver Keynote Address at Whistleblowers Summit 2025

Rosebank, Johannesburg, Wednesday, 01 October 2025 — Public Interest SA is honoured to announce that Professor Firoz Cachalia, Acting Minister of Police, will deliver the keynote address at the Whistleblowers Summit 2025, to be held on Monday, 27 October 2025, at The Venue, Melrose Arch, Johannesburg.
The Whistleblowers Summit, now in its third edition, is South Africa’s premier platform dedicated to strengthening integrity, accountability, and the protection of those who speak truth to power. This year’s Summit will convene whistleblowers, policymakers, civil society leaders, academics, business executives, and investigative journalists under the theme:
“The Courage To Speak: Reimagining Accountability And Integrity In South Africa.”
Prof. Cachalia’s keynote address will set the tone for the day’s deliberations, reflecting on the urgent need to foster a culture of accountability and the role of law enforcement and government in ensuring that whistleblowers are protected, heard, and valued in a democratic society.
The Summit will feature high-level plenary sessions and panel discussions on key issues, including:
Whistleblower protection reforms and legal frameworks.
Corporate governance and ethical leadership.
Investigative journalism and its synergy with whistleblowing.
Nurturing whistleblower resilience and support systems.

The Whistleblowers Summit will precede the Whistleblowers Awards 2025, taking place later in the day, also at The Venue, Melrose Arch, where outstanding courage and integrity will be celebrated, including the newly introduced Digital Courage Award and Climate Action Award.
