TEBOGO
KHAAS

Tebogo Khaas is the founder and chairperson of Public Interest SA, an organisation dedicated to promoting accountability, transparency, and ethical governance in South Africa. A seasoned entrepreneur, social justice activist, and advocate for ethical citizenship, Khaas has been at the forefront of efforts to combat corruption and foster a more equitable society. His leadership in Public Interest SA underscores his commitment to holding public and private institutions accountable, particularly in relation to economic inclusion, digital access & privacy rights, entrepreneurial governance, and e-government initiatives.

With a diverse background that spans information communication technology, business, politics, and activism, Khaas is deeply involved in initiatives that drive systemic change. His work includes organising high-profile events like the Whistleblower Summit and Awards, which highlights the critical role of whistleblowers in protecting democracy and justice, including the Off the Books Summit. The Off the Books Summit is a forum that addresses issues related to corruption, illicit financial flows, and other forms of financial mismanagement that operate outside formal accountability mechanisms, often referred to as "off the books" activities.

Khaas' vision for a better South Africa is anchored in the belief that active citizenship, ethical leadership, and strong institutions are key to achieving sustainable development. Through Public Interest SA, he continues to advocate for reforms that strengthen democratic governance and ensure a more just society for all.
